Rob Clarke was born and raised in southern California and graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz. After completing four years of graduate school at Indiana University, Rob moved to the Netherlands where he worked with HortaPharm BV developing strategies for breeding improved medical and industrial cultivars, and serving as their commercial production consultant to GW Pharmaceuticals and Merck Generics in the United Kingdom. Rob spent decades traveling to study and document traditional Cannabis cultures, and through his books, peer-reviewed articles, visual arts and public presentations established his reputation as scientific liaison to the cannabis community. Rob has considerable experience growing year-round both outdoors and in greenhouses, he is skilled at modifying cultivation systems to accommodate ambient conditions, is skilled in the integrated biological control of pests and diseases, and experienced in establishing quality control standards and meeting regulatory compliance from seed to sales. Presently his interests include the breeding of medical, social and industrial cultivars, landrace preservation, genome exploration, and building a deeper knowledge of our evolving human-Cannabis relationships.
